Why does Absolutely Altinkum need support?

Absolutely Altinkum is a privately run, non-commercial site set up by Lynn and Keith in 2005 to provide a meeting place and community for people with a love of Turkey, but in particular Altinkum and its environs. As we do not have any business interests in Turkey and do not allow commercial advertising we feel our forum is able to offer members objective and impartial advice.

As the site's popularity has grown so have it’s operating costs. We are constantly seeking  to improve both the performance and the security of the forum and to this end, our technical expert JohnF developed a new board which we moved over to on 31 October 2008. This board has many more features than our old one and is far more secure and helps us keep out the bogus members who want to access members’ details for their own business interests.

As you might imagine, none of this comes cheap and whilst for the first couple of years we were able to fund this from our own pockets, the costs have become too onerous given that we now have around 2000 members and are growing daily. For the last couple of years, members have kindly donated to the running costs of the forum and it is fair to say that without these contributions, we would not still be on line today. We must make it clear though that whilst donations are greatly appreciated, they are purely voluntary and we make no distinction between members who donate and those who don’t. It is entirely your decision.
