That's a real shame for you both it was terrible of these people to get your hopes so high, maybe fate has played a part here for some reason. Good luck with future potential buyers :)
Bought in 2003, have no regrets. Enjoy relaxing in our home in the sun.

Sorry to hear about your disappointment. Same thing happened to us...TWICE. Elderly Turkish couple who lived in Germany saw our advert in Voices and came round, said that they really wanted the villa. We sent pics via internet to his daughter in UK and spoke to her on the telephone (the couple's English was't too clever). They even came back the next day with documentation to prove he had money in bank and was due to receive a lump sum from a pension fund. Graham ran them back into Altinkum and that was the last we heard from them.

Second buyer...Turkish man living in London...even left a deposit but didnt want to do a bank transfer from UK (cant imagine why...lol). The contract we all signed said that if he didnt complete a few days before we left Turkey he would lose his deposit and have to pay us a further amount equal to the deposit. But we all know that Turkish contracts and agreements are as useless as a chocolate teapot. We gave him extra time and he asked that we met him in London and he would hand over the cash at the same time that our agent, who had PoA, transferred the tapu into his name. We said no cash no tapu but drove down to London from Aberdeen but he had a list of excuses as long as his arm why he couldn't meet us. After two days we said stuff it and kept the deposit. I did an internet search on him using the poll registers and everything he owned was in his wife's name...his house, telephone, business etc. Definitely into some sort of tax dodge and if I'd had more evidence I would have reported him to the authorities and asked them to investigate him purely out of spite to get back at him for what he put us through.

We did sell a couple of weeks later through our agent and everything went smoothly this time. Third time lucky maybe.

Hi Thanks for all your kind comments It seems that not all buyers are time wasters. Only a week before we SOLD to a very nice German Turkish family, after the letdown from complete time wasters, it seems that not all people are out there to mess you around and expect you to give your property away. We have sold our villa for the asking price and the sale went through very quickly only 3 days to move out. We are now back in the UK now, having spent 9 years in Turkey. We know we havent got the sunshine but it is nice to have some peace and quiet and not have to worry about constant changes in Didim . I hope anyone else who is trying to sell hangs in there because one day it will happen. :D :D :D

Congratulations David on your Sale :D
What we need to remember is European Turks have more Money than Domestic Turks and they usually Buy Villas rather than Apartments so theres No reason to Sell at Rock Bottom Prices
As eventually a Buyer will come along if your Patient .
Domestic Turks that usually Buy Apartments are feeling the Pinch at the Moment with the Inflated Lira .Which should improve once the Lira goes down again . Ann
