Years ago we purchased a pc from Dell, the first and last time ever. We have just bought our latest one from our local pc shop, ok, we probably have paid more, but the Owner is so helpful if you have any problems and if you are not pc intellect like me, I find he explains things in the 'language' I understand lol.

Good luck Tracey in receiving your money back.

I do hope you have received satisfaction now from Dell. As Pauline says, if you get no-where them then contact your Ombudsman. We had problems with the Dublin Post Office, Re-Directional System, they really did cause an upset s couple of years ago which left us with almost nothing in our bank account. Being over here in Turkey it is very hard to sort things out with your bank in Dublin. Things WERE sorted but I was getting no-where with the Post Office.... so.... I contacted the Ombudsman in Dublin. I am pleased to say, it was sorted out in record time and we even received a refund. :P :P

I must speak as I find, I have had fantastic company aftercare from Dell, Max bought me a Dell Inspiron lap-top with a 17.5 screen for Xmas 3 years ago and have not had any problems, and indeed told by many companies it's the best brand on the market. We often get calls from them asking if everything is o.k. When ever I change it will be another Dell.....It's a shame the delivery department has let you down Tracey, as the product is excellent. :)

My dell needed a new hard drive a month after the 12 month warranty ran out :( , I know you can get the odd dodgy model sometimes! I also had to keep buying new chargers for it too!

My daughter bought a very expensive laptop direct from Dell, she had more bother than enough with it, and trying to speak to someone was a nightmare, never again.

Pauline, not sure why you call Dell laptops the best that money can buy. Yes they are in most colleges but probably only because they offer a better deal than any other manufacturers or suppliers, it's nothing to do with product quality to my mind. Thankfully I have yet to work on a Dell laptop but I have repaired many Dell PC's and they are a nightmare. Most of their hardware is placed totally opposite to what they are in just about any other PC and just accessing the main components is an art form in itself.

Glad you got your money back Tracey but just another reason why I wouldn't touch Dell with a bargepole!

Well said, Keith. Some people like to boast that they have one because they have heard from somewhere that they are the beesknees. I used to repair pcs and stopped accepting Dell's for repair
